Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Bissett.
Jessie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Jessie. I’m 24 years old and have been licensed in cosmetology for two years now. I have been wanting to do hair and makeup since probably the first grade. I went to college and got an Associates degree before starting cosmetology. I went to Hairs How in Wakefield and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in this field. I love the teachers Lisa, Linda, and Deb like family. A few months after graduation I was hired at TreNoi, thanks to my girl Ashley Piazza. I’ve learned everything I know from my coworkers and supervisors at TreNoi. They’re hair geniuses and I owe most of my knowledge, skills, and techniques to them. Also, I’m currently accepting and welcoming new clients! I specialize in blondes so if you are looking for a new hairstylist come talk to ya girl 😉
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course! I worked in a few salons before TreNoi and they were just not the right fit. It’s important to keep your options open when you’re just starting out because you have to make sure you and your coworkers mesh well! Duh.
Other struggles in this field for me, are confidence! It’s hard when you’re just starting out but when you hear “I trust you” from a client, it puts those negative thoughts away. Confidence comes with experience for me and as the years go by the more confident I’m becoming 🙂
TreNoi – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So like I said I am a cosmetologist at TreNoi! Everyone here mainly specializes in blondes and more than half of my clients fit into that whether it’s a foil or balayage. I also am known for doing makeup here for weddings, proms, photoshoots, etc. I think that’s what sets me apart from most here because not many of my coworkers do! I am A self-taught makeup artist which is what I take most pride in because I’ve come a long way from when I used to put black eyeliner all over my eyes and call it a day lol
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments are when I am doing a makeup application (especially brides) and they tell me how pretty they feel! Cheesy but true!!
