Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Hennessey.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As an Emmy award-winning Producer, I’ve been in the background coordinating, scheduling & organizing most of my career. Starting in the TV & Film industry in 2007, I learned to perform well under pressure and became an effective problem-solver <— key wedding planner skills! Working at a Creative Agency and with companies like HGTV, Microsoft, NFL Films, Reebok, NESN, Staples & Showtime kept me alert and always thinking on my toes.
I guess you’re probably wondering how I got into the wedding industry, though! Moving into documentary filmmaking in early 2014 solidified how much I love to tell human stories. The raw emotion, the natural beauty, the realness of it all. The smiles, the laughs, the tears! While they’re just as unpredictable as any other event, a wedding brings an unmatchable feeling of joy, success and achievement to anything in my earlier career. As a former bride, I know the stress that can be associated with planning the perfect day. It’s safe to say I’ve found my “calling”!
As an added bonus, my husband and I welcomed our first baby in May – a girl! I want her to look up to me, (like any Mom!) but also want her to witness the hard work it takes to achieve your goals. How cool is it to have a business-owning Mom who totally kicks ass? She’s my motivation!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I decided to open Jessica Hennessey Weddings I knew I had beyond the skills needed to do the job – but worried about how (and where!) I would find couples looking for my services. When I found them – or they found me – I then had to prove that I am the perfect choice for one of the biggest days of their lives. My work speaks for itself, but there are a lot of uncertainties – forging ahead with confidence has been my best tactic!

Jessica Hennessey Weddings is a wedding planning, design & coordination company based on the South Shore of Boston, serving brides & grooms in Massachusetts and all over New England.
What really sets me apart from other planners is a month-of coordination package. This is for couples who want a little more help and a lot less stress in the month leading up to their wedding. I contact and confirm all of their vendors, organize timing and details, design tablescapes & display items, create their wedding itinerary and am 100% available for any and all questions/comments/concerns/tasks they have. Most importantly – I make sure every last detail is in place for a flawless day!
I’m super psyched about an upcoming event I’ll be hosting, too! “Engaged! The South Shore’s Premier Bridal Show” is a modern take on the classic wedding expo. I and Wedding Boston are reinventing the wheel to provide couples with a more exciting place to meet and interact with vendors. A combination of the traditional booth-style presentation with interactive demonstrations, workshops, displays and entertainment – it takes place on March 4, 2018 at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset, MA. Yay for events on the South Shore!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The best part about Boston is the people! They are what make me love my job so much. No two couples are alike, no two styles are alike – and no two weddings are alike! Born in raised in Massachusetts, I spent 7 years outside and there’s nothing like a pure Boston accent, overly passionate opinions and a side of sarcasm. Plus, the diversity of cultures and opinions, traditions and of course – the best dang sports teams on the planet!
What do I like least about this city? Nothing, really! Well – I guess the traffic. But, all of the other incredible things about Boston (and New England in general!) make the Braintree split feel like heaven.
