Meet Jenny Richard of All Aboard Event Planning in Worcester County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Richard.

Jenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been a party thrower. From as long as I can remember I was throwing surprise birthday parties for friends. Once my husband and I bought our first home, our house quickly became the party house. From birthday parties, to themed parties, to holiday parties, all I needed was an excuse and a party would follow. I planned my own wedding and that is when my love for wedding planning truly sparked. During the time of planning my wedding, I was working full time as a Senior Fundraising Coordinator for a national non-profit. Galas, beer tastings, walks, motorcycle rides, you name it, I was planning it! I am a firm believer in living life to the fullest and always knew I wanted to own a charitable company. So I took the experience I gained and my passion and launched All Aboard Event Planning and could not be happier with how far this company has grown.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Launching your own business is outright horrifying and expensive! There are so many little things you need to know and learn. I could plan any event with my eyes closed but the side of actually running a business has been a major learning curve. Determination to succeed is key! I seriously could not be more proud of how far this business has come and the amazing team I have built.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the All Aboard Event Planning story. Tell us more about the business.
All Aboard Event Planning is an event planning company specializing in weddings and fundraisers. We are a charitable company donating 10% of our client’s costs to a charity of their choice. We offer wedding services from Day of Coordination to Full Service Planning. In addition to wedding planning we offer party planning and fundraising services. Most Event Planners can’t say they have a strong background in sales and I feel this is key for our client’s. With my long history of sales before joining the non-profit world, I feel I am an expert negotiator able to get my clients the best deals possible. We just planned a wedding for $5000- yes you read that right and no you will never be able to tell it only cost that much! I am definitely extremely proud of the fact we are a charitable company and I feel this definitely sets us apart from other companies. Additionally, having a team of 3 amazing women who work for me allows us to have more availability and extra hands whenever needed! We are more than Event Planners, we are atmosphere creators. We are the best at creating a fun event everyone will talk about for years to come!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Good luck was the moment I booked my first wedding in my favorite vacation spot and then finding out there would be goats at the wedding. I LOVE goats- specifically Nigerian goats, so this was my dream come true. In all seriousness (even though that was serious) as far as finding the right employees, I would say good luck has played a large impact. I didn’t seek out any of them and they all basically fell right into my lap! I think “bad luck” just results in lessons learned and the opportunity to improve and better yourself and your business.
