Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Williamson.
Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve loved to write since I was a young girl, but it wasn’t until tragedy struck my family that I started stepping into my full truth and power as a writer.
I’ll backtrack a bit.
I graduated from Nichols College in 2010 second in my class with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. I loved my writing classes and was thrilled when my poem won an award with the school’s literary magazine. I excelled in all of my classes, but truly I was miserable inside. I placed lofty expectations on myself in school, and outside of school, I was just never enough.
Everything changed in 2011 when my brother committed suicide and my world came crashing down.
It’s nearly impossible to see the pain someone is going through until it’s too late. This was a wakeup call.
So, I stumbled around for a long while looking for a new beginning. I left my internet marketing job for massage therapy school and dabbled in teaching yoga classes. It was freelance writing that sparked my journey back home, to what I loved.
In late 2014 I knew I had to write for myself, so I decided to start a blog and I went with AimHappy.com since all I really wanted was to be happy in my life. I was ready to heal for real and I needed to express everything that was bottled up inside of me. Maybe, I could even help someone else.
Since 2015, I have been healing through writing and life has brightened. The most amazing part of it all is how many people resonate with the messages. I write about love and loss, adversity, hope and possibility, and what we’re capable of doing and being.
Everything I write is in honor of my brother, Mark. He is why I am here as I am, doing what I’m doing, living how I’m living, loving now instead of being so hard on myself. The world needs more of that kind of light, I think.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh, yes to the struggles!
I am not a designer, but I eventually figured out how to build a website that works. I’ve stared at the “white screen of death” more than a few times, struggled financially, and felt confused most of the time about where I wanted to go with it all.
I forced myself to practice the courage to put my thoughts out there for the world to read, especially my poetry. That poem I had published in college was the first time I ever let anyone read my poetry. It’s funny now how much I love sharing. It’s fun when fear turns into love.
Writing specifically on the topic of grief still brings tears to my eyes.
My father (my biggest fan) passed away in 2016, infusing life and my writing with new heartache and greater depth.
With the writing journey itself, I’ve just recently figured out what my main priority is: to write books. In fact, my first book is out this year (May 15th) and I can’t help but look at it like it’s a miracle, a dream built from the ruins of heartache.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Aim Happy is an online journal sharing healing messages to spark hope plus joy.
I encourage daily loving dialogue through uplifting poetry, empowering affirmations, and down-to-earth wisdom. The messages speak to how we can rise from the ashes of what we thought would crush us. Everything is a testament to what’s possible, an offering of light, and an invitation to shine.
There are infinite places to visit online where you can read someone else’s thoughts. Aim Happy is a space for authenticity and depth. I carefully craft each message with healing in mind, and it’s not just about me and my healing. It’s about all of us, together. It’s not about always being positive, either. It’s about honoring the process and being there for yourself, and for each other.
With everything I write, there’s room for interpretation. I think that’s a gift in itself. Readers are given space to craft their own insights and tap into their own wisdom. I don’t heal anyone else; I just offer the space for others to heal themselves.
Right now, with my first book out, I am most proud of the fact that readers can hold my words in their hands. The book is called Sleep Affirmations: 200 Phrases for a Deep and Peaceful Sleep. It’s beautiful!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
One of the great things about being a writer is that you just need a piece of paper and a pen to begin, or a computer and an internet connection. You look within rather than looking out. Massachusetts is rich in history and natural beauty, so that helps.

Jen is remarkable! Her affirmations are sot on and not only her truth, but based on universal truth of the human condition. Bravo
