Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Roberts, Jason Ferrier.
Jennifer and Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
About Jason:
A union trained carpenter with years of experience. He is detail oriented and a perfectionist.
My childhood was spent in multiple foster homes, so I really didn’t have much growing up. It was a tough thing to go through, but it taught me to never give up. If you really want something, you have to make it happen. Starting a business is never easy, and I couldn’t have made this happen without Jen. We are a great team and we truly enjoy working together.
About Jennifer:
After attending Salem State University I decided to continue my education at The Project Management Institute and The Institute of Business Analysis. I am certified in Project Planning & Management as well as Business Analytics. I am a certified General Contractor and have a passion for esthetics.
I come from a family of small business owners. My father owned a catering business, my mother owns Granite Girls USA, and my brother is the owner of K9 Top Performance. Jason, my family and education fully prepared me to follow my dreams.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This question alone makes me laugh! We have been up and running for a 1.5 years, and it’s been quite a journey. Trade schools and universities can only teach you so much. In our opinion, there is a huge difference between having the education/training to run a business and actually running a business. We offer a range of home services, and each project always comes with unknown variables. Unknown variables can make a project stressful because it can potentially change the entire project altogether. There will always be factors that are out of our control. A few examples are the weather or incorrect/damaged materials delivered. When you own a business with your partner there will always be struggles, but its how we resolve them that has lead us to success.

We specialize in finish carpentry and deck building. Honestly, it is hard to pick one thing that we are the most proud of. We are perfectionists and extremely detail oriented, so every project comes out beautiful. What sets J and J Home Services apart from others is that we treat every home as if it is our own. We put the love into our work and it shows. We also do not mark-up the price for materials, you pay what we pay. We value honesty and great communication with our customers.
