Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Seidman.
Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I suppose I got started when I was young, probably 8 or 9 and always hearing about the muscle cars my father owned or driven in by friends. The stories he told about dodge chargers or Chevelle’s of his day always peaked my interest and started me on this journey in the automotive industry. When I was a freshman in high school I decided to go to the vocational school to learn about repairing cars and a general understanding of the industry I heard so much about. This is also where I first met my now Business partner Sergio Mesquita who also shared a passion for cars. I graduated 4 years later with a degree from the voc and high school and got a job at a Subaru Dealership not much longer after that. That was 2005 when I started working on Subaru’s and haven’t stopped since. Let it be known that Sergio and I worked at that dealership for 9 years plus before we decided that it was time to branch off and start our own company in 2013. We saw too much we didn’t agree with at the dealership level and decided we could offer much more for less. We have been operating ever since and our soul driving factor is customer satisfaction and quality workmanship.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, I would say yes it has been smooth, that being said there are some months when it gets slow and we panic a bit about paying bills etc.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Boxer Motor Works – what should we know?
Well our company Boxer Motor Works specializes in Subaru’s, we do everything from general maintenance all the way to custom engine builds for the performance aspect of Subaru. We are known for our honesty and that goes a long way when it comes to customers who are either new or have had bad experiences in the past. I would say I most proud of new customers who are referred by our current customers and they tell us they have heard nothing but great things! We have many years of experience and training with Subaru’s so we know them inside and out.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Honesty hands down is the most important characteristic that relates to our success, I can’t stress it enough. As automotive technicians there is a negative stereotype that tends to follow us around, and we plan to change that.
