Meet Jason Connor of Jason’s Private Fitness Studio in Lynn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Connor.

Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It’s been a long and interesting journey getting to where I am today, but I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly. I started as a personal trainer when that wasn’t a common job. People weren’t working out yet, weren’t joining gyms and definitely weren’t doing bodybuilding. Let me tell you how it all began…

When I was a teenager, the first health club in the area opened up in Lynn, MA. It was too expensive for me to join, so I recruited 10 members and earned a free membership for myself. This was my first introduction to this type of physical training, and a year later I was working there part-time, and after another year I was running the place. A few years later, I started helping out at a local health club created by Mayo Kaan (bodybuilder who was the original model for the comic book Superman) – I intended to just work with him for 6 months, but ended up staying for 16 years as the Phys Ed Director. I continued on as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym, where I built up a large client base and consulting with all of their new members. With my success as a trainer, I decided to open up my own place.

I spent a lot of time planning an addition to my home, where I could create a special space that would be perfect for working one-on-one with my clients. This is when Jason’s Private Fitness Studio was born. Over the years, I’ve competed as a body builder and won many titles. Now in my 70’s, I continue to focus on working with my clients to help them improve their health, fitness and lives.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I always dreamed of being a firefighter, and even started my career as a firefighter in the Lynn Fire Department. After a terrible injury while on a Search & Rescue mission, it took me over a year to recover fully. I had both hips and knees replaced, and worked very hard to get back into my job, both physically and mentally. But, in the end, this incident changed the plan for my career, and my life. It was a lesson that sometimes we have to learn from what life hands us.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jason’s Private Fitness Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Jason’s Private Fitness Studio, I work with individuals to really help bring a new-found energy into their lives. For more than 30 years, I’ve helped people of all ages and fitness levels improve their lives in a holistic way. I give you one-on-one, personalized attention and encouragement, along with a fitness plan tailored specially to your goals, such as: Losing Weight, Building Muscle Tone, Reducing Stress, Lowering Blood Pressure and Cholesterol, and Gaining a Feeling of Well Being.

I am proud of the personalized attention that I give to my clients, motivating them in a kind and compassionate way. I am honored to partner with my clients to work toward success, and to celebrate their results together!

What sets me apart is that I have been working as a trainer for most of my life. I was a pioneer in the field, have seen it all, done it all, and yet I continue to learn. I work on achieving balance, and also practice meditation. With a focus on the mind-body connection, I help clients not only in the areas of exercise and nutrition, but also in reducing stress and living a happier, more fulfilling life.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am excited to continue working with my clients toward their personal success. My personal focus is on health and stress reduction, and living in the now – one day at a time. My hope is to bring much of this focus to the lives of more clients over the coming years.
