Meet Jamie Lynn Hart of Awaken To Flow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Lynn Hart.

Jamie Lynn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been singing since I was very little and began writing original music in high school. I knew this was where my heart was, but I chose a more academic path and ended up studying Opera in college and grad school, pushing my original dream aside as it felt a bit too “unknown and scary.” Fast forward to my last year of grad school at Boston University, and coming to terms that I wasn’t on the right path, I created an original band and began my journey as an award-winning singer-songwriter, touring and producing three albums. In 2012, I was hired as a Voice Professor at Berklee College of Music which is where I’ve been for 6 years. One year later, I had a spiritual awakening and my life turned upside down in the most glorious, fascinating, and tumultuous ways. This past year, I’ve begun to realize that my purpose lies much deeper than just teaching music and singing, and I am now channeling my gifts and message in a new direction. After taking a break from writing and touring, I am in the studio recording a new EP and completely rebranding my sound and style. (Stay tuned!!) I am also a certified Life Coach and have recently launched my company Awaken To Flow, where I coach people on how to connect to their inner voice and create the life they truly want. My coaching practice combined with the new music I will be releasing is my way of hopefully raising consciousness in a world that so desperately yearns for it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ha! Definitely not. I’ve learned that when the road is not smooth, there is some major learning and karmic lessons ready to be had. It also is an indication that you may not be on the right path. If I had known that when I was struggling throughout my college years, I may have had the courage to shift my trajectory much sooner. Being an artist, I think the doubt and the limiting beliefs can weigh you down so much that it’s very common to give up, or become despondent in the process of trying to “make it.” It’s made me have to seriously question what success means and what about the career is ultimately fulfilling. That’s why I am so passionate about coaching people through these life questions. If I had the wisdom to look deeply into my heart early on in my career, things would have been a lot different!

Awaken To Flow – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Awaken To Flow is my coaching company where I work with clients looking to enhance their life by diving deep within themselves and connecting to their true desires. I specialize in those who are curious about spiritual awakening and how spirituality can completely change their lives for the better, as it has mine! By using the wisdom I’ve gained through my life experiences, combined with my gift of expression and teaching, I feel I have fully locked into my life purpose in helping others find theirs!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Such an important question! Only YOU can know how fulfilled you feel in your life. It is a matter of defining what the purpose of your endeavor is. When I finally asked myself why I was doing what I was doing, which was, “I want to use my gifts to uplift others,” I realized I was already doing it. ALL THE TIME. Whether I’m watching a client shift their perspective, or getting a message from a fan saying my song was a healing salve for their depression, I am affecting the world–even if it’s on a small scale. It’s up to me if that’s “enough success.” I think a lot of what we think success is, is defined by the ego. Winning awards and people clapping for me wasn’t working. If you’re not digging the journey, you need to reassess where your path and adjust accordingly.
