Meet James Nicoloro of East Cambridge Piano in Bitchin’ Somerville

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Nicoloro.

Thanks for sharing your story with us James. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
While attending Berklee College of Music (1976) I discovered there was a demand for used pianos by fellow students and since I was a “local boy” I knew where I could fine old neglected pianos. So I would find them, fix them and sell them.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have diversity in sales and service so there has been a constant growth.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We restore old pianos still but with the digital age upon us, we have expanded into that world as well. So we are known for “all things pianos” Our event rentals have been very active, many hotels and music venues feel owning is not a good option with the upkeep and the amount of real estate it takes up so renting is a better option and we have some incredible pianos that are available.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The arts culture is what makes Boston a great place and being involved with it is rewarding so I think choosing to work with people in the arts is a great way to make a living.

Pricing:

  • In home piano tuning $175
  • Piano rentals for events start at $450.
  • Pianos prices range from $750-25,000.
