Today we’d like to introduce you to Ja’coall Bergstrom.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started in this industry many years ago and it has given me the opportunity to move around the country and work amongst the best stylists. I was trained in the dry cutting technique and it is a very artistic approach to cutting hair. It is like sculpting a piece of art. No two haircuts are ever the same and it is so tailored to the individuals face shape and lifestyle. I am a health fanatic I am always trying to eat better cleaner and take all the nasty unwanted ingredients out of what I put in my body. Then it dawned on me. I need to move back Boston and open an eco-chic more natural hair salon. Offer my hometown sulfate and paraben free hair care that is natural and full of cancer causing ingredients.
That how Nest was born. We are a small boutiques salon that Carry’s only ethical, sustainable, cruelty free, sulfate paraben and gluten free products. My two passions have combined.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a Single parent and having a successful Business will always come with obstacles and bumps in the road. The most challenging thing about opening the salon was getting over the fear that maybe Boston isn’t ready for an organic salon and the fear that if this Business does not succeed I will be completely broke and most likely homeless. I let those thought come in and let them pass right though. I just kept telling myself “leap and the net will appear” The universe works in mysterious ways and I am living proof that if you believe in yourself and put positive vibes out there. Magic happens.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nest Salon – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The things that set us apart aside from being an eclectic group of hand pick stylists from all over the city. We will only carry products that pride themselves on putting the health of the client first. Our hair products that are from Italy are family owned and they are a zero carbon footprint company. The products are produced by Solar and wind power and they sustain the local farms by sourcing local for the ingredients they need. We love this! On so many levels. We want to change this toxic industry and bring some fresh air back in the salon industry.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I grew up in Boston. I love it here. I love the diverse melting pot it is. I love the history and The Boston Harbor in the summer. The sports teams with or without championships. I am a diehard Bostonian. There isn’t anything I don’t love about it here.
