Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jaclyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started when a close family member of mine got really sick. She always taught me that life is too short and to never stop growing. She said that we’re “always becoming” ourselves.
Unfortunately she lost her battle and it rocked me hardcore. I didn’t know what to do but I felt her spirit wanting me to live on her legacy and to teach as many women the things she taught me.
Boudoir photography was never on my radar as a photographer but it literally just fell into my lap and I ran with it.
I love helping women learn to love themselves exactly where they are at. I mean we all have things we want to change but if we can love ourselves through the change the process can be beautiful.
We never know when our last day will be and I think it’s so important to understand that in a deep way. It’s my goal to share this with as many women as I can and boudoir photography allows me to combine all of my passions into one.
I am so blessed.
My Facebook group “ALWAYS BECOMING” has over 30 thousand women in just under 2 years. It’s a space where women from all around the world have been able to just be themselves and give and get encouragement.
I absolutely love what I do.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve ran into a lot of struggles.
Finding the right clients, figuring out my equipment, finding the right space, dealing with ridicule and discouraging comments. I mean the list goes on and on but I just didn’t have a plan B.
I was going to make this work no matter what.
I started this brand from the ground up with the support and love from my friends and family.
As I grow my business the issues I run into get bigger and harder but as I grow as a person I learn to react to them with grace and gratitude.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I am myself. Sounds silly but I really don’t have some amazing “talent” that others cannot train to possess. It’s just a camera. Anyone can buy one and anyone can learn to use it if they really wanted to.
What sets me apart is that I get my confidence from God. I am 100% myself and I really have learned to love who God made. Never trying to fit myself in someone else’s box. I truly know who I am and I think that allows me to offer an honest experience to my clients.
I am known for my boudoir photography but I specialize in loving people until they learn to love themselves. That’s what I’m most proud of as a business owner & as a person.
I pride myself in treating my clients like friends rather than customers.
What a lot of people don’t know is that I do lots of other types of photography, I did all of this before boudoir but now that just occupies most of my time.
I do engagements, maternity, newborn, family, lifestyle. I do almost everything except events. 🙂
What were you like growing up?
I am the oldest of 4 kids so I’ve always taken on that caring motherly role. I love making sure people feel taken care of and happy especially my little siblings.
Growing up I would always try to make the moments last, ask my Mom. At the dinner table I was always the last one sitting there because I wanted to savor every single moment & memory. I hated when one of my family members would get up “too soon” after dinner….but if it were up to me we would have sat there until bedtime.
I just wished I could stop moments in time. . . . And then I found a camera.
I always had one of those tossable cameras on me. I would take photos of everything. I’m talking the toilet of the hotel we stayed at as a family in Florida. All because I just couldn’t miss ONE detail of a time that brought me joy. I was a little odd as a child & some may still consider me odd – but I’m happy!
Don’t worry, I don’t take photos of toilets anymore!
