So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Intelli Bookkeeping grew out of a growing demand for quality, cost-effective financial services. The trend has been for startups and nimble, tech savvy small businesses to move towards web-based software and service providers. Early stage businesses are very value conscious. They expect great price and great service all wrapped into one. Intelli Bookkeeping is able to provide bookkeeping, payroll and tax solutions at both a price that fits the budget and at the quality they expect. It all started with one Boston-based tech startup in the fall of 2015 and we’ve grown to servicing nearly 50 companies across 12 US states and 7 countries worldwide in 2017.
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any business first starting out, client acquisition was extremely difficult in the first several months. Although we had a strong relationship with one client from the onset, crossing the threshold and expanding our sales and marketing reach was certainly a challenge. As an unknown in the market, proving our knowledge, skill and ability to deliver on services was crucial. And as we grew, hiring the right staff and providing the right training was by far the most difficult, time consuming — but also the most important — aspect of getting our services aligned with our mission of quality and cost-effectiveness.
