Today we’d like to introduce you to Helena Shumakin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Helena. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We took over an excising medical spa location in summer of 2016 and did a lot of work in order to bring this business closer to the vision my husband and I have for Gentle Aesthetics. We changed the name, updated the interior, brought new cutting edge technologies, added the newest and most effective procedures and products in skin and body care, created new website and most importantly put together a wonderful, devoted team. We want to create customer experience rare in today’s world, where clients will be surprised and delighted by the level of service and professionalism of our staff. We did that by choosing nurses and aestheticians who not only possess education and expertise needed to perform procedures but also have the rapport and personality to truly care about each and every client and ultimately the results.
We named our med spa Gentle Aesthetics because we believe in gentle approach to beauty meaning non-invasive treatments (in comparison to surgical procedures); consistent regiments of procedures and at home care which produce stunning, long term results. Many people don’t realize that surgery is not the only way to correct unwanted features and to keep maintaining youth and beauty. Also many people don’t realize that our services are more affordable than they may think and we truly want to be able to offer our treatments to everybody – be “gentle” on our clients’ wallets. And of course our approach is not to push services on clients with sales techniques but rather to truly understand client’s concerns and individual situation and educate them so we together can create the most appropriate and beneficial beauty plan. Our clients tend to stay with us long term and refer their friends and family and we feel so honored and thankful for that.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is not easy to gain trust of new clients and spread awareness about a new business. Sometimes people have had bad experience elsewhere and so it takes a long time to foster a positive relationship, to learn person’s beauty goals, come up with effective beauty regiment. We all work extremely hard and take it one client at a time.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Just to see Gentle come together as we have imagined it, to hear the phone ringing and all the positive feedback we’ve been receiving from clients, referrals that are coming from our existing clients. To be able to walk into a beautiful, lively, positively charged office every morning.
