Thanks for sharing your story with us Ha and Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Despite the struggles, I started my business 26 years ago because I was inspired by my children to pursue my passion. My hair journey first began in Malaysia where my sister and I opened our salon together. Not long after that, I moved to San Francisco and went to cosmetology school to acquire my license. A majority of my family members back home were and still are in the cosmetology field. It only felt right for me to continue my passion when I moved to Boston. I made use of my skills and training from Malaysia and San Francisco and finally decided to take a leap of faith and open a business of my own.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 35 years and am constantly learning new things every day. I currently run my business with my daughter Jessica whose passion is also the beauty industry… as you can tell it runs in the family. I am most thankful for having this salon as I get the opportunity to help people leave my salon feeling confident and beautiful while maintaining years of relationship with clients that are basically like family.
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any thing in life, everything is not smooth sailing especially running a small local business. Some of my personal struggles in the beginning was having a bit of a language barrier, balancing the role of a businesswomen and being a mother to three young children. Sacrifices were made and are paid off as now my children know the value for hard work and dedication.
Gaining the trust of people to help them feel their greatest is something that is earned. I have learned along the way how important it is to continue to be up to date and be educated with the latest trends. Being transparent and genuine with your business values and delivering quality work has helped me through the years.

Kimarie Hair Salon is a committed full service salon for the whole family. Offering a range of services from hair, nails, skin care, waxing, makeup and massage. Our staff/stylists are all fully trained with fused skills and knowledge acquired techniques from Asia. Since being in business the past 26 years we are proud to service the different generations of clientele that support us. From toddlers receiving their first haircuts, to a child first communion and high schools proms, we ensure that our clients of all ages are pampered for their special day.
Here at Kimarie, we take pride in knowing how much people enjoy our shampoo and blow dry’s that comes complimentary with a head, neck and shoulder massage. Our priority is have clients feeling relaxed and rejuvenated with our convenient walk in services 7 days a week.
