Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Robins and Tony Bonvechio.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A vision that has been growing since its founding in 2013, The Strength House was created to be a home for those looking to further their training potential alongside like-minded individuals within a positive community. Members in nearly half of the United States as well as internationally have practiced The Strength House brand of strength and conditioning.
Originating as a website that provided content for strength training and customized programs for training enthusiasts, The Strength House has evolved to include the premier strength training facility in Worcester, MA, as well as a well listened to podcast.
We are excited at what the future holds for The Strength House, and even more excited about what that means for our loyal and awesome clients/followers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There will always be struggles in anything worth pursuing. Early on in the infant stages of being a website and online brand the primary roadblocks were content distribution, as well as defining who are ideal audience was. Since that time we have become the go-to resource for people in the greater Boston area who want to get involved with serious strength training, as well as compete in their first few power lifting meets.
As we opened a brick and mortar facility – we were able to leverage our position as an authority in the e-world. Using income from this avenue allowed us to slow cook our membership in the facility. That being said, with such a small niche to cater too – patience was the name of the game for us.
It was important to only serve people who would also, in turn, serve our culture in the way we wanted them to.
Please tell us about The Strength House.
We are a private strength training facility. We serve two main populations. Strength training enthusiasts and team sport athletes. Many of our members compete in or decide to compete in amateur power lifting competitions. Our mantra is “Train With A Purpose.” Becoming a member of our facility – or online community – is all about learning to train with passion and purpose.
While we make a point to bring our people the BEST coaching and exercise programs to meet their goals, what we are most proud of is our culture and community. You won’t find a better group of people training together, and having fun in welcoming but productive atmosphere.
Our business is built on 5 Core Values:
1. Positive Training Environment: How would you act if you knew it was impossible to fail? We celebrate every accomplishment and support each other with every failure. We learn from our mistakes and never blame others. This is not an “everyone gets a trophy” mentality, but rather an attitude that you should never be afraid to fail at The Strength House.
2. No Islands: At the Strength House, we are a family and a team. While everyone has individual goals and needs, we as humans are much more alike than we are different. No one is so special that they can justify breaking away from these firm expectations: show up, work hard and support your fellow members.
3. Carry the Flag: Lead from the front. Set a positive example. Do the little things that others are unwilling to do. You are a role model, whether you realize it or not. You never know who’s watching and who is looking up to you.
4. Don’t Ring the Bell: Never, ever give up. There will be times when you want to quit, but anything is possible if you never give up.
5. High Speed, Low Drag: Keep things simple. Master the basics because the basics work.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing. We mean that. If working in this business teaches you one thing, it’s that the joy is in the struggle – in the process – that continuous effort even through set back will not only get you where you want to be, but also define you in the best way possible.
