Meet Gary Young and Jamie Ivins of Redwood and Rye Studio in Maynard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Young and Jamie Ivins.

Gentlemen – please kick things off for us.  Where does this story begin?

Before there was Redwood & Rye there was Gary Young Photography and Jamie Ivins Photography, both well known in the industry for our unique vision, documenting, and creative use of light. At one point Jamie jokingly said we should join up as a studio and take over the world… Fast forward a couple of months and finding a studio space to share we jumped in feet first and Redwood & Rye was created.

The name came from Jamie being from the West Coast (Redwood) and Gary’s love for old fashions (Rye) the name was born.

The response from existing, and new clients was amazing the first month after the announcement we booked 10k worth of weddings

Has it been a smooth road?
The road for us has been mostly smooth! We were already established photographers and haven’t had any growth issues as of yet. Our only issue was what color to paint the studio!!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Redwood & Rye Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Redwood and Rye was founded by two photographers that by chance became friends. We specialize in Wedding photography but also dabble in portraits too. We are known for our laid back personalities and our unique perspective and photojournalistic style. Our ability to come together and create a pretty kick ass photography team. All while providing a full service to our clients from the first phone call to hanging their wall art at the end of their experience. The most notable thing is creating beautiful wall art with little to no light and we believe that getting to know our clients and seeing them through each other’s eyes is extremely important!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We Love Boston! From the Dirty Watah to Jamaica plain and everything in between. The city is ever changing just like our weather. We love the that you can be in the hustle and bustle of city life or drive 20 minutes to a wooded area where it’s completely silent. Traffic is always an issue in Boston but if you’ve lived here long enough that comes pretty easy too.
