Meet Gabriel Cheong of Infinity Law Group in Financial District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Cheong.

Gabriel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Infinity Law Group was started 10 years ago because I wanted to help families who were falling apart, rebuild their lives from the rubble of their old ones. Most people come to me at the lowest and most vulnerable time in their lives when the relationship with their spouse is broken or about to be irretrievably broken and they’re confronted with the possibility of losing their house and their children, all at once. Being a divorce and family lawyer was not something I had planned on, when I started law school. I wanted to be a prosecutor putting away the bad guys like you see on T.V. While in law school, I stumbled upon an internship at Greater Boston Legal Services where I helped victims of domestic violence obtain a divorce and gain custody of their children. The work sparked in me the desire to help people in a very emotional and intimate way. After law school, I started my practice right away out of the third bedroom of my rented apartment. I would see clients in a rented and shared space in Dorchester. Eventually, I moved the office into a respectable office building in Quincy and we have now expanded our presence into Boston and Needham, so that our clients don’t have to travel far to see us. I grew from working alone as a solo attorney into a small firm with an associate. I feel blessed that I get to do work that I love and that I help people every day go from a bad place in their lives to having the tools to build a new life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If you don’t struggle, you don’t learn. I’ve learned a lot in these past 10 years of being an attorney. Law school doesn’t teach you much about the real life practice of law. That is learned, on the job, after law school and after the bar exam. Not only did I have to learn the practice of law, I also had to run a new business. As with any new business, there were always start up challenges of getting clients and keeping the bills paid. Along the way, I expanded too big and too quickly and I learned from those mistakes. Now, Infinity Law Group is a two-attorney firm and we’re very comfortable staying this size for the foreseeable future because we’re able to provide a legal solution that’s specially crafted to each client because everyone’ s family and situation is different.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Infinity Law Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Infinity Law Group is a boutique divorce and family law firm helping clients in eastern Massachusetts. We are the only divorce and family law firm in Massachusetts that offers fixed fee pricing for our legal services. Our clients have a choice to use traditional hourly billing (which is unending and a blank check) or take us up on our fixed fee pricing where we quote a fixed fee (depending on the complexity of the case) for a fixed period of time. Most of our clients choose the fixed fee option because it allows for them to budget and control runaway costs. Our firm also publishes an app that allows anyone to calculate alimony and child support using our calculators. It’s available on the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
