Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina White.
Gina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a New Hampshire based writer, who has freelanced for many local, regional, and national magazines and newspapers for over twenty years. Like many people, I had aspirations to write a novel and decided to add it to my bucket list when I turned fifty a couple years ago.
My life experiences have given me plenty of salacious fodder to write a psychological thriller/crime fiction story. I am a firm believer that there are no coincidences – people come into your life for a reason, good or bad, which teach important life lessons if you look hard enough. Most I’ve understood, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’m still trying to figure a few out . . .
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
A smooth road?! What is that? Hell no, my road has been long and arduous as most are. Getting published is tricky and more competitive every year.
The writing takes countless hours and isolation – the promo stuff, a thick skin as rejections hit you in the face. But it’s the journey, they say, and not much gets learned from strolling down ‘easy street.’ Don’t you agree?
Please tell us about G. G. Boulay – Author, The Blood Oath – Greed is the Deadliest Addiction.
As a writer, I never wanted to be tagged to one genre. I think that is what sets me apart. I don’t miss too much going on around me and if it sparks my interest, I can probably write about it.
I have written children’s stories, non-fiction news items, articles from health and fitness to property rights, a column for an equine magazine, and now an edgy piece of pretty brutal fiction, The Blood Oath – Greed is the Deadliest Addiction. I kinda feel I’ve found my niche. Not sure what that says about me!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wish I had written a novel years ago but I suppose the time had to be just right. Once you get a little older, you start to look back and think about the things you DIDN’T do.
Then you realize, if not now, when?! My brother was all over me to write a novel, urging me to stop the procrastination. Sadly, he passed away before it was finished so the book is dedicated to him. I am sure he is happy that I followed this one through.
