Meet Elliott Kronenfeld of Insight Brookline Psychotherapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elliott Kronenfeld.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Elliott. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a private practice clinician, I wanted to start a group practice that honored the clinicians and the wisdom and insight they brought to the work. It was important to create a working environment that centered on a collaborative and intentional culture. This meant that clinicians needed to earn a higher salary than they could in other groups, and feel fully supported at the same time.

When Insight was born, clinicians were hand selected for their ability to treat patients and to work as part of a community. As the company grew from three clinicians to 30, the organizational values and culture were held up as nonnegotiable. Clinicians have found their ability to work with patients is greatly enhanced because they are able to earn a higher income, feel supported by their peers and have a say in how the organization is run.

At Insight we consider ourselves a “tribe” and even put that up on our webpage. We hold Tribe culture to be paramount to how we engage and interact with each other. Every person here, regardless of role or status is given equal weight and measure. This results in a higher sense of dignity and respect.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The primary challenges along the way were about space and logistics. Finding the right spaces that allow for Tribe culture and the services that we wanted to offer was difficult in the Boston area. Space is at a premium. However, once space was found, the Tribe was able to create beautiful spaces that clients feel comfortable in.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Insight Brookline Psychotherapy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Insight, each clinician can meet the clinical needs for anxiety, depression and other common challenges our patients bring. Each clinician is also a specialist in a particular area. So, across the spectrum we can address most any issue. We have sex therapists, trauma specialists, pediatric specialists, EMDR specialists, a prescriber, spiritual counselors, etc. The diversity of approaches and experience at Insight allows us the greatest opportunity to work with outpatient mental health.

What makes me most proud of the work at Insight is how the Tribe comes together. There are a lot of talented clinicians in the Boston area, but there is no other group that functions and operates as seamlessly and collaboratively as the Tribe at Insight.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Insight is always growing. Recently, we added a training and CEU offering. We are growing the number and types of group therapy offerings and moving into the publishing space. Couples by Intention: Creating and cultivating intimacy is a new book due out by the end of 2017!
