Meet Elkie Zarchi of Cambridge Preschool of the Arts in Cambridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elkie Zarchi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In our educational work over the last two decades with the Harvard and MIT student communities, the need for an early childhood program for the young families of graduate students emerged. After testing the waters with our popular weekly Parent & Me program, we launched Cambridge Preschool of the Arts.

Our objective was to create a community that would be warm, stimulating, and nurturing and would enthuse parents to entrust us with their most valuable assets! We opened our doors in September of 2016 with an enrollment of 10 children ages 15 months – 3 years. By January of 2017, we had expanded our locations to include an Infant Center in Harvard Square, an Infant Center in Central Square, and our Toddler/Preschool Location in the North Point neighborhood of East Cambridge, seconds from major highways and minutes from Downtown, Beacon Hill and Back Bay.

As our name suggests, we have a strong emphasis on learning through the arts incorporating the Reggio Emilia discipline. Our children spend the day exploring, experiencing, playing, and creating. From our infants to our preschoolers, our students are exposed to a world full of art, music, and nature.

Our amazing staff is an incredibly important part of the magical and happy world we have created.

We currently have 40 spots servicing ages 3 months to 4 years old with plans for continued expansion.

My own six children, ages 19-3 continue to inspire my love for creative, fun-filled, learning moments!

Has it been a smooth road?
The explosive interest in our program challenged us to expand soon after we opened our doors while maintaining the quality and high standards of our program. We are blessed with an incredible team whose flexibility, creativity, and ability to adapt, has enabled us to expand locations and more than triple our numbers in less than 10 months.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cambridge Preschool of the Arts – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a Reggio Emilia influenced Jewish preschool, we are committed to building a strong educational foundation for our children, through play, social collaboration, and exploration. We strongly believe in fostering the natural curiosity of children as a means to inspired learning. Our emergent and open curriculum allows our students to draw their own conclusions through exploring and experiencing allowing them to own their knowledge. Our vibe is gentle and happy, and our noise is the chatter of children’s creativity.

Our brand new, state-of-the-art centers are designed to create a warm and nurturing environment with airy sun-lit rooms, cozy corners, and plenty of space to explore, create, and play.
