Meet Elise Caira of Sweat Fixx in Wakefield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elise Caira.

Elise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a 20-something year old fitness junkie, born and raised in the greater Boston area. I’m an ex-college basketball player turned personal trainer, yogi, group fitness instructor, social media consultant and now business owner! Let me take you through the short version of how I got here.

I have always been a huge fitness freak and super competitive. My natural drive and competitive nature landed me a full scholarship to play collegiate basketball at Bentley University. During my time at Bentley, I went to the elite 8 & final four but unfortunately suffered two torn ACLs in the process. Long story short, my basketball career was over.

After college, I immersed myself into all things fitness. I started running my own strength clinics for high school players, teaching yoga in Punta Cana, growing my fitness Instagram account to over 30K followers, and countless other fitness endeavors. Fitness has been, and continues to be a passion of mine.

One day I got a text that there was a space opening up in my home town that would be available in little over a month. I put together a business plan and left the corporate world to open Sweat Fixx. Within 4 weeks Sweat Fixx was created & opened! We introduced a workout that the north shore, or New England for that matter, had never seen. We paired water rower with our strength circuit to create a 5 signature 45 minute workouts that leave you dripping with sweat. The best part is anyone can do it, whether you have worked out for 6 days a week or haven’t worked out in 6 years. It’s the toughest workouts that EVERYONE can do!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest struggle was definitely the timeline in which we created EVERYTHING. Within 4 weeks I created the website, hired instructors, renovated the space, pretty much did everything. I had a vision of what I would create if I ever opened a fitness studio but if you told me I would only have 4 weeks to make that vision come to life I would’ve thought you were crazy.

The other hurdle per say, was that we were introducing the first of its kind workout. If you say Yoga or Spin people know what that is. Our classes are something no one had ever seen before so we were teaching an entire community which at first at lot of people were nervous to try. But once we got them in the door they quickly saw how challenging but FUN these workouts were.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sweat Fixx – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a combo Row and Sculpt studio. We have 5 signature classes that anyone can do because they are low impact, but no matter your level of fitness are super challenging & addicting! Our studio is different because it is the toughest workout that EVERYONE can do. We have had classes with Pro NHL players in it with people who just started working out for the first time, and both people are able to push themselves on our water rowers but still going at their own pace. Our workouts can humble even the most in shape person.

We are most proud of the community we have built. This studio is like no other I have experience in the sense that it is a family. There is no judgement, no jealousy, everyone is working to better themselves and everyone is growing stronger as one community. I think the fact that our crew (my instructors and front desk staff) genuinely gets along and that there are no egos, reflects onto the community. This studio is made for everyone – for people who work out 6 days a week to people who haven’t worked out in six years. My instructors embrace that, and I love them for it.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
After only being open 8 months just announced that we are opening location #2 in Arlington this September. I went to high school at Arlington Catholic, so it’s a community I really can’t wait to share these workouts with. If you had told me after 8 months we would’ve gotten the amazing response in Wakefield and built such a strong community that I would be able to open my second location, I wouldn’t have believed you.

Going forward we hope to just continue to grow. To continue to find awesome instructors that mesh with our culture and continue to inspire and change people’s lives like we did in Wakefield. Our classes, our monthly fundraisers, our social media challenges build a bond in our studio and I can’t wait to share that with other towns in the area.
