Today we’d like to introduce you to Ed Mayo.
Ed, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
FiberGutter was a concept derived from the issues with homes that have wood gutter. In the mid 2000’s we made a mold from a wood gutter and created an exact replica in fiberglass. The product was well received in historic districts throughout New England. From 2012-2016 over 500 installations were completed. In 2016 we figured out how to manufacture the product through a process called Pultrusion, This significantly lowered the cost and FiberGutter partnered with a regional building products distributor. In 2016 there was over 50,000 feet of FiberGutter sold throughout the United States. In 2017 FiberGutter is looking to increase sales over 100%. FiberGutter is now sold through over 100 lumberyards in the United States.
Has it been a smooth road?
Like any business there have been some bumps in the road. Specifically trying to offer the complete package with gutter and accessories to compliment the gutter took a lot of trial and error.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the FiberGutter story. Tell us more about the business.
FiberGutter is now considered another category in the gutter market. While aluminum is the largest market share holder we are slowly growing and taking some of that market share. Our products are the most durable on the market and most aesthetically pleasing. We never get a complaint about product quality or issues with the products
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As we slowly take market share and our products become introduced to different regions of the country we see significant growth potential over the next few years.
