Meet Donna Moore-Wright in Worcester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna Moore-Wright.

Donna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started playing around with a DSLR camera back in 2014, however, I wasn’t very serious about it. I shot everything in auto mode and wasn’t happy with how the pictures came out, so I went back to using my iPhone camera. Plus, using my iPhone camera was much quicker than learning how to use a DSLR camera. So, I put it away and took the easy route and continued using my iPhone.

As time went on, I felt like I was stuck in a rut. I was working my butt off at my 9-5 only to go home, prepare dinner for the family, then go to bed. It was the same routine every day. This had to change! I needed to do something for me… something that I loved, so I decided to dig deep to try to find out what I had to do to snap me out of this boring slump.

I decided to take an online course called Fierce Clarity and it forced me to look at myself and get a better understanding as to what my true passion was. This course is what made me pick my DSLR camera back up and really learn how to use it. Now I don’t shoot in auto anymore, I shoot everything in manual mode and love it!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Learning photography has been a challenge. There are so many things that you have to remember before taking the shot like, making sure that your subject is in focus; is the subject exposed properly? are they in frame? And then there’s post processing. I would not let the challenges stop me though. What they did was push me to practice, practice, practice, until I got it right and my love for it keeps growing stronger.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Over the past few years, I have been photographing models, artistic pieces, and landscapes, however, as of late, I’ve been doing more and more portrait photography. One of the reasons I enjoy portrait photography is because of the interaction that I have with the subject; it’s been great! These photos seem to stand out the most. I tend to get a positive reaction when people see them. I think it’s because I have a way with making people feel comfortable during the photo shoot so the end results are genuine.

What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was very shy and loved being outdoors in the summer. I was a very fast runner so, I got involved with a track team with our local park. They held competitions with other parks and our team always would win, (I had a competitive spirit)!

When I turned sixteen, I got involved with modeling. I was tall, thin and very awkward so I felt that modeling school would help me with my poise and my self esteem and it did. I did that until I was in my early thirties because I enjoyed going to all of the different events and I loved working with the fashion designers/stores.
