Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Lyon.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Yoga for me has been a life saver, before I owned the yoga studio I worked in Boston for over 14 yrs. in the construction field, as a laborer and finishing that career as a Construction Manager. With this fast pace and stressful atmosphere and having a past that haunted me. I knew I needed change. In 1998 when I found yoga. I wanted to share this miraculous feeling of peace, and overall well-being. I became certified as a yoga teacher, and opened my first studio in 1999. Practicing Yoga taught me how to have a different mindset all together. I developed a sense of peace, and felt more in-tuned with myself emotionally, physically and spiritually, It taught me to let go of the past, and not to worry about the if’s and maybe’s of the future. I share this in my teaching practice and in my teachings I have seen the results of so many who thought and did life the way I once did. And now have peace of mind. a sense of humor and don’t take life so serious. Teaching others to live in the moment and to be mindful, so we don’t miss the miracles. Of today. Which is the most important day!
Has it been a smooth road?
In 1998 when I opened my first yoga studio, I found it necessary to combine yoga with a more physical fitness aspect to help people calm their minds, I also developed a DVD that included using hand weights with yoga. Yoga With Weights DVD helps students with more of a Type A personality, Yoga has also helped me to help others in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, now being 27 yrs. sober. I was and still do bring the 12 steps of recovery into my some classes, for over 15 yrs. I have facilitated 12 step yoga retreats here in Mass. and abroad. Yoga helps the connection mind, body, and breath, in the moment releasing ghosts of the pasts, and getting in touch with the creation of the oneness of universe. I love teaching the 3rd step and 11th step of recovery in Yoga, Which is affiliated with Letting Go., and Prayer and Meditation to get in touch with your creator.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The city of Quincy is up and coming, it is really easy to get around. And very accessible to Boston and surrounding areas. Lots of construction and traffic right now, which only means when it’s finished there’ll be more students walking to the studio.
