Today we’d like to introduce you to Deana Bacon.
Deana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It started many years ago. I was in the second grade. My teacher, Ms. Nelson asked the classroom, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I could not wait for my turn to answer. I remember being so excited to respond. When she finally did ask me, I told her “I want to be a psychiatrist and part-time nurse” I was seven years old!
My mission and passion ever since has been in the service of others. I have been a successful entrepreneur in the field of Human Services for 35 years. Helping people feel safe and appreciated has always been of the utmost importance, which is why I naturally gravitated to the field of psychotherapy.
In 1993, captivated by many styles of psychotherapy, I launched my own private practice in Beverly, Massachusetts. I counsel individuals, couples, families, and corporate environments. I conduct weekly group therapy sessions and teach seminars and workshops on subjects such as anger management, stress reduction, conflict resolution, and building high-quality love relationships.
I infuse my psychotherapy sessions with enthusiasm and compassion while utilizing a thoughtful, down-to-earth, challenging process. This allows the client time to truly connect with the mind and body, which opens up a greater opportunity for change. I offer a holistic integrated approach while conveying my passion for helping people in every session. I view myself as a life skills educator and believe that good psychotherapy is both a learning and unlearning endeavor.
My practice has given me perspective, balance, and most importantly gratitude and respect for life. It is my hope to share this gift with clients guiding them through their own path.
My first yoga class was at the age of 19. At the time, I was focused on weight training and aerobics. The gym is was working out at, was offering a yoga class. I remember signing up for the class, not knowing what to expect. The teacher, Diane, had us transition from mountain pose to tree pose. I felt a stillness beyond measure. It was a feeling I will never forget. Shortly after my first class, Diane moved to India, and I went back to weight training.
In 2008, I was feeling overwhelmed with life’s stresses. During my meditation practice, I remember the feeling of mountain pose. This feeling guided me to reconnect with yoga. In the process of healing my physical body, my spiritual awakening was just beginning.
Since then, I have completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training. In addition, I am a Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher. I have had the privilege of Studying Meditation and Mindfulness with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. I incorporate both Eastern and Western philosophy in helping people feel better and function better. “Built on Referrals, Sustained on Treatment”.
