Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave McGillivray.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ran across America in 1978 from Medford, OR to Medford, MA for the Jimmy Fund – 3,452 miles. Ran up the East Coast of America for the JF. Run my age on my birthday every year since age 12. Completed Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, HI nine times. Done 24-hour swim, 24-hour bike, 24-hour run. Just completed the World Marathon Challenge. Race Director of the Boston Marathon – 31 years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never smooth but that is to be expected. Most recent “struggle” was being diagnosed with “severe coronary artery disease” in 2013. Have reversed that by 40% though! As a young boy, was also “cut” from teams and “the last pick”. Wrote two books, The Last Pick and just recently a children’s book, Dream Big.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the DMSE Sports, Inc. story. Tell us more about the business.
DMSE Sports – have directed on or consulted on over 1,000 events. Boston Marathon, Triathlon World Championship, US Olympic Marathon Trials… race all over the USA and abroad.
