Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Blanchette.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2006 I rescued an English Setter named Brady, who has severe food allergies. After many years of unsuccessfully trying to find a variety of treats he could tolerate, I decided to head to the kitchen and create my own! In 2012 Sit Stay Beg was born and has grown due to love and passion for creating healthy, gluten free, human grade dog treats that smell delicious and that dogs love. Every recipe was created by me, from scratch, with minimal ingredients and each one is Brady approved.
There are currently four flavors available. Peanut Butter Banana, Low Fat Sweet Potato and Blueberry, Low Fat Pumpkin Apple Spice with Cranberry and Grain Free Pizza Bites. Peanut Butter Banana, Sweet Potato and Blueberry and Pumpkin Apple Spice with Cranberry come in both Begging Brittle and Cookies. The Begging Brittle is perfect for dogs of all sizes and the Cookies and Pizza Bites are crunchier so they appeal more to the bigger dogs.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the biggest struggle was creating recipes that appealed to even the most picky dogs. Being a full time dog walker I had the benefit of having dozens of dogs be my taste testers. Each recipe was tested and retested until I found the right combination of ingredients that appealed to even the pickiest eaters. In the end I chose the top three gluten free flavors to start with. After many requests from customers for a grain free treat I then added a fourth grain free flavor shortly after.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sit Stay Beg Cookie Company – what should we know?
I think what sets Sit Stay Beg apart from other businesses is the research I have done and the knowledge I have gained by having a dog with food allergies. I never realized how many dogs had a gluten allergy until I adopted Brady. Since each recipe has been tested and is Certified Gluten Free, customers don’t need to worry about their dog having a reaction. Each flavor has very minimal ingredients so it’s perfect for dogs with sensitive stomachs also. I feel a healthy diet is necessary for all dogs which is why only using human grade ingredients is so important to me.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think drive and determination are most important to the success of Sit Stay Beg. I know how hard it is to find those special treats that both my dogs can enjoy. I want to share that with other dogs with and without a food allergy. Having always been an animal lover, seeing how much dogs enjoy them is all I need to keep growing the business and have Sit Stay Beg sold at more and more local stores.
