Meet Danalynn Stockwood of FunFancyNails Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danalynn Stockwood.

Danalynn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My passion for nails began at a young age. I would place large paper clips on the tips of my fingers, pretending they were long talons. My pink tackle box of nail trinkets did not include hooks, lines or bait. It was overflowing with nail implements, embellishments and a rainbow of polishes.

My love for nails was always present. It blossomed when I became a licensed nail technician in 2006. I booth rented for 10 years. Within that span, I explored the outlets of the nail world. Along working on clients, I participated in seasons of New York Fashion Week, participated in a nail competition, winning 3 medals, have had my work published in Nails Magazine and NailPro Magazine. Two years ago I took the leap in opening my own nail studio in the Orange Innovation Center. My clients followed me 30 minutes away to my new locale. Working out of studio #329 has been a wonderful experience.

Clients are greeted with a refreshment and snack, their choice of musical entertainment and the service they requested. At FunFancyNails the services offered are manicures, pedicures, toenail reconstruction & an array of nail art. In addition to servicing my clients with their nail needs, I also organize the Massachusetts Nail Networking Expo and the Rhode Island Nail Networking Expo. I also host nail classes in studio #328 as well as provide a space for birthday parties. There are so many directions to take in this industry. I’m one to try them all!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Facing challenges and obstacles can be difficult when running a business. Finding the balance by receiving support from family and clients makes the struggle a bit easier. I’m grateful to be able to juggle the many hats I wear.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FunFancyNails Studio – what should we know?
At Fun Fancy Nails Studio, I specialize in providing the client with a tranquil and clean environment for their nail care needs. A place where they feel welcomed, a judge free zone. I’m known for my nail art. Whether its simplicity eccentric, its possible! Working on a tiny canvass is always exciting!

What I’m most proud of is the specialized care I offer my clients. Many times I reflect on what I can do to set my studio apart from others. I believe being a good listener, compassionate, empathetic, and providing a clean and inviting salon is key.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family is so deserving of credit. My husband has been my cheerleader through the whole process. He reels me in when needed but also is terrific at giving me the confidence to take the leap.

Also, my four girls have been my cheerleaders. They love to have their nails painted claiming I’m the best “nail techer”.
