Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Fox.
Dan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Upon moving to Arlington 10 years ago, I started teaching an adult jazz ensemble out of my home. To grew now to the point where I have a studio in Arlington, over 100 students, and 20 weekly jazz, rock, funk and blues ensembles that meet weekly. Groups are for working adults, retirees, and students who are looking to keep music as a part of their lives. I also produce the Arlington Jazz Festival, going into its sixth year.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a learning curve as the business has grown, figuring out how to keep organized and have enough time and energy to devote to moving the business forward
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Morningside Music Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are one of the only music schools that caters to adults. We are known for having a personal touch and working with students to keep them involved. We offer financial aid to those who need it.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am expanding to offer music tours. We have gone to Cuba and New Orleans to get workshops and learn from the local musicians.
