Meet Corey Saunders of e·volve fit in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Saunders.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Fitness has always been something I have loved ever since I was in high school. I noticed that when I got into high school and started working out, I performed at a higher level in sports. Two years ago I decided to start my own fitness company. I went to college for business and communication, but I’ve always had the knowledge most trainers possess. Today I have many certifications related to health and fitness. I wouldn’t change my approach at all. There are some good trainers with bad business ethics. I feel that’s where my company stands out is that I come from a corporate background and know how a business should be run.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s always obstacles when you start a business. There’s no such thing as a smooth road. The first year in startups is figuring out the direction you want your business to go in. I felt like I was always coming up with better ways of doing things which is a great way to find out what works and what doesn’t. There are a lot of unknowns in your first few years with a lot of second guessing yourself. Mentally you just have to stay on course and believe in yourself. Now, at my 2-year mark, business is great!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the e·volve fit story. Tell us more about the business.
I own a fitness company based in Boston that provides one on one training to clients all over the world. My company has one priority and that’s to serve. We provide everything from towel service, water, clothing apparel, nutritionist, fun and as I always say results. My company provides top notch service and I believe that’s why my clients keep coming back for more.

What sets me apart from most trainers in Boston is that I offer gym design to corporate luxury residential properties all over New England. I help them plan and prepare what works best and what gyms should have in their new luxury property based off of my functional training philosophy.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not one to believe in luck. I believe that God has a purpose for everything in your life. It’s all about giving it your all you have to make things work.
