Meet Collins S. Farhat of Farhat Law Office

Today we’d like to introduce you to Collins S. Farhat.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated from La Salle University in Philadelphia and joined the healthcare world traveling North America implementing medical software in emergency rooms for two years. Later working for some of Boston’s brightest healthcare companies such as Partners, Tufts Health Plan, and Dana-Farber.

My lifelong goal was to become an Attorney, and in my 30’s I decided to pursue my goal. I was accepted to Massachusetts School of Law. During Law School, I worked for Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office where I learned the workings of the court system, from this I have a perspective of working for the people.

During my final year of Law School, I worked for a private criminal defense attorney in Lynn Massachusetts, where I was exposed to working on cases ranging from assault & battery, restraining order violations, and criminal motor vehicle offense. I learned quickly, working privately you had to pull your own resources, do the legwork, whereas working at the DA office, I had the resources to pull from whether it was an investigator, police or expert witness.

Working in a private firm, it’s all on YOU – you are the investigator, the witness advocate, running the back and front of the house from answering your own phone to spending countless hours working with clients. Working for a private firm prepared me for opening my own. My mentors, of who I am grateful, provided me with invaluable advice and experience.

Please tell us more about your practice.
My office is based at 65A Flagship Drive, North Andover MA.

My primary service areas are: Essex County, Norfolk County, and Suffolk County. However, I am available throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

My firm is Criminal Defense, specializing in Drug Crimes and alcohol and drug DUI/OUI. I am known for my out-of-the-box thinking and approach, which comes from working for the District Attorney and Criminal Defense.

My past career as a business analyst prepared me for my career in law. As a business analyst, I had to be organized to dissect, investigate, and problem solve. These skills were transferable to the legal world.

As a solo practitioner, no day is the same, which motivates me to work hard for my Clients to deliver the results they expect. Clients that come through my door with complex and challenging cases are the ones I thrive off of.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Recently I accepted a position as a Public Defender. Being that you specialize in OUI/DUI, what is your perspective on the legalization of marijuana?

Although Massachusetts has legalized the use of recreational marijuana, individuals forget that it is a crime to drive while under the influence of drugs, the same as it is for driving under the influence of alcohol.
