Today we’d like to introduce you to Belle Asong.
Belle, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I had helped out with decorating for family and friends and I realized that I absolutely loved doing it. I began to do research on the basics. At this point, passion and zeal were the only things i had. But another thing i had was being blessed to have crossed path with Fantasy Decor Creations. She ordained my very first steps. Told me the do’s and dont’s and gave me the moral support i needed to dare the journey of an event decorator. I vividly remember after decorating my first paid event, she opened her arms as i walked in and smiled;”Here comes my decorator!”. To have someone with experience appreciate and see potential in a budding flower means a whole lot.
At that point I challenged myself. I made a decision to never be the same after executing any event. I chose to grow. I chose to work hard, research, watch, learn, unlearn, pray and if i fell, i would dust myself and rise.
Has it been a smooth road?
Its been a fairly short journey not void of struggles.
Anyone in this business would have a story or two to tell you about shipping companies. They are so gifted at getting your orders 2 days after the event!
Working in a team is fun but sometimes when a member of your team isn’t as passionate and driven as you are, it causes a set back.Finding people who are committed and passionate as well is hard.
Some people do not understand how much work goes into event decor. Actually, some of them think all that’s to be done is “cover up tables and chairs”.
Clients do not comprehend the dynamics and variables involved in producing an event. Neither do they realize that because every event is unique and tailored to the host, pricing can never be the same. Sometimes, it takes a lot of patience to explain things to them.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Classique Impressions Décor story. Tell us more about the business.
Classique Impressions Décor specializes in transforming event spaces. We do mostly private parties such as weddings, showers, anniversaries, christening etc.
We are known for stage designs, pipe and drape, backdrops, ceiling drapery, tablescapes and exceptional skill in color co-ordination.
We are most proud of our ability to deliver both thematic and dramatic designs.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Technology would greatly shape designs and productions.
Down the road, the use of conventional venues would be minimized.
Events would be moving into more mobile or built spaces. Large structures and customized props would be taking over the scene.
