Meet Clare Donoghue of The Traveling Art Party in South Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clare Donoghue.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Clare. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business 3 1/2 years ago with the support of my family and friends. I have always been a very crafty person and did many craft shows. I have always wanted to have my own business, so after being at a Boston Painting Event, I had a thought that I could run that kind of business. I did a business plan and talk to a lot of people in my town looked for a space to have a brick and mortar studio. I even looked into a liquor license. I sat with a friend of a friend who had his own business and we talked about rent , insurance, ETC. (I had an idea of going to local restaurants and asking to use space to hold painting events with their customers and new customers that I would bring in. ) He suggested I do the local restaurants and make my first $500.00. Then make my next $ 500.00. SO I did just that. 3 1/2 years later I am still doing it.

I have gotten a lot of business due to the fact that I travel. I go to people’s homes, schools & Corporations.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have to say I had that the road was not been to rocky. I had a few issues with artists finding ones that wanted to do these kind of events. I did have 3 artists at one time and now I have 1 and myself. I work a full time job in the financial industry and trying to juggle to 2 careers have been tough.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the The Traveling Art Party story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the owner of the company. I do it all!! I find the venues, create the events on my website and Facebook page. I also am one of the instructors of the events. Our specialty is to create a fun experience for our guests. We are known for the fact we travel to our locations of the events. The fact that we travel to our events I feel that sets us apart from other businesses. I love seeing the end result of people’s creations & how proud they are of themselves.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think the luck is good luck. I feel very lucky with the support system I have.
