Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
While I was in high school, in Connecticut, I worked for the local hardware store and developed an interest in owning a similar hands-on type business someday. The experience that I got there helped me decide where to direct my future, where I could best make use of the business education I received at Boston University. I enjoyed the diversity of people and the issues that they came to the store to resolve.
Following college, a variety of jobs further aided my recognition of personal strengths and weaknesses and when the opportunity to introduce a Sir Grout franchise to the Boston area presented itself I felt it was time to test those strengths. Possessing a natural inclination for civility and an innate sense of order, this particular service business was everything I believed would be a good fit for me personally and professionally.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There is nothing like life experience to teach us how much we really don’t know! I am sure that despite careful thought and preparation, there is no business owner that doesn’t encounter surprises they could never have anticipated. Aside from the nuts and bolts of the materials, equipment, and funding necessary to get started and the subsequent learning curve, the biggest challenge is finding the right people to help you achieve the success you aim for. Finding the right people to add to the Sir Grout team was a struggle initially, but I am proud to say that we now employ some of the best and brightest technicians in the industry. They are highly motivated to provide the best possible results for our clients and work hard every day to achieve the top quality results we have become known for.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sir Grout of Greater Boston – what should we know?
Sir Grout is a cleaning, sealing and restoration contractor for all your tile, grout, and natural stone needs. We are able to restore just about any of these surfaces to like new condition. Our specialized cleaning and sealing products help us achieve results that others would think to be impossible, typically in only a few hours’ time. Our results and customer service are second to none.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents deserve most of the credit for who I have become on a personal level and for what my company has been able to achieve. The character traits they instilled in me from childhood have helped me to build a strong business with a sterling reputation. My father has one of the strongest work ethics I have ever seen and my mother is one of the nicest people you’d ever hope to meet. The combination of the two, hard work and a professional, friendly personality, have certainly helped foster growth over a short period of time.
Additionally, my parents have provided financial and motivational support not only for Sir Grout, but through my entire life. I know I can count on them for anything and the role they have played throughout my life cannot be summarized in words alone. All the credit goes to them.
