Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Rushworth.
Chelsey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had always had a passion for interior design, but never thought it could turn into a business. However, I am extremely lucky that I have a husband who has always believed in me.
In late 2016 we decided that we had outgrown our first condo in South Boston and decided to put it on the market while designing our new townhouse in Dorchester. During the time that our condo was on the market, many people came in and asked who the interior designer was and if they could get their information. In the midst of that, we had been designing all the aesthetics of our future home. Between those two moments and a serious push from my husband I decided it was time to bite the bullet and start Taste of Coffey in the fall of 2017.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Taste of Coffey is a very new business and is continuing to grow and it has not always been a smooth road. Being self-taught in design I am continuing to learn the in’s and out’s of the interior design world. I am also always trying to balance my day job of working in advertising while keeping my Taste of Coffey clients a priority. As any small business owner knows there never seems to be enough hours in the day and you always can be doing more, but its worth it!
Taste of Coffey – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Taste of Coffey offers home design services which include eDesign, in-home consultations, full-service design and personal shopping. I specialize in affordable interior design.
I am most proud of that fact that I help clients showcase their personality and style in their homes. I work very hard to create a space that they love, feel comfortable in and are extremely proud of.
Boston has many, many talented Interior Designers, but what sets me apart is that I believe that you can create a beautiful space without breaking the bank. I focus on finding pieces at the best price point and look for ways that we can be at or under budget. Aside from clients loving the end product, I am always thrilled when I know I saved them some money.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment so far has been being brave enough to finally start Taste of Coffey. I was so nervous when I launched the site that I would not land any clients and I was pleasantly surprised when people started reaching out almost immediately.
Although, we’re not even through our first year its already been a great adventure. I’m learning and growing every day and its such an exciting ride.

- eDesign- Offers an easy an affordable way to create your space online. This service includes a concept board, links where to purchase everything & a step by step guide for styling the room. Pricing starts at $85
- Design Consultation- An one hour meeting in your home where I can answer any design questions that you may have, help evaluate your home & give guidance on how to create your dream space. Priced at $100
- Personal Shopping- It’s all in the details! Sometimes adding a few new pieces large or small can transform a space. I’ll determine the stores & together we’ll find those wow pieces. Priced at $40 per hour
- Full Service Home Design- This is a start to finish service. From our consultation, I will take your vision and make it a reality. I’ll generate a concept board for you to review & give feedback. Once we’re in agreement I will handle all the purchasing, assembling and set up of the space. Priced at $40 per hour
