Meet Chase Kurinskas of Hill-Top Candy in South Shore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Kurinskas.

Chase, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hill-Top has been in business since 1946. I bought the business in 2010. Sales were around 250,000. Have grown the business to 450,000. We have done this by offering the freshest taffy made to order for all of our customers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Hardest part of the business is the upkeep on the machines. All the machines are from the early 1900’s and do breakdown a lot. However, our candy maker Jose can fix anything.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hill-Top Candy – what should we know?
We are known for our fresh Salt Water taffy & Ultra Thin (Razor Thin) Ribbon Candy. We also make Puff Candy as well. We make all orders fresh to order and never keep any back stock.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Biggest supporters have been my wife and parents. They are always there to help me when I need it. Doesn’t matter if its mental support or coming in for a few hours to work so we can keep up with the orders. I couldn’t do it without them.
