Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Safford.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Charles. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Started out djing when I was 9. During my teenage years, I DJ-ed at the biggest under 21 dance club in New England (Uptown). Several years after graduating high school l got an on-air spot at the local radio station WCUW 91.3FM in 1989, continuing the legacy of my uncle Spider (The Soul Mystique) who moved on in his career. I am still presently djing at this same radio station 29 years later. After developing my skills as a DJ and building up clientele from mobile work, I was able to establish a name for myself in the community.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh … no!! Being a promoter in the Biz can be such a hassle. Between booking entertainment, dealing with venue owners, selling tickets to events, promotions, and dealing with people in general… At times, it can be a real big headache…
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dj Chuck Chillin’ story. Tell us more about the business.
Chuck Chillin’ Got Da Hottest Beatz. That’s my slogan… that’s my brand. It states who I am, and what I bring to an event.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
This is a make it or break it industry. There’s so many trying to do it. You got to have the drive, mental toughness, determination, and resources to move forward and make things happen.
