Meet Chantelle Davis-Gray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantelle Davis-Gray.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chantelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been a blend of analytical & creative. In college, I changed majors from psychology to apparel marketing. After college, I was a store controller and then an assistant buyer. I’ve always had a push/pull relationship with both sides of my brain. The jobs I had just after college were great, but they didn’t provide me with space to be creative. So, I went back to school to become a designer and have been one for over a dozen years. Most of that time was spent designing in a corporate environment, which I grew tired of. I needed a change, so I left in pursuit of starting a health coaching practice. I wanted to do something that helps people, and I’ve always been interested in the wellness industry.

However, since all my friends knew I’d been a designer forever, they came to me when they started their own businesses or with referrals. For about eighteen months I did the wellness coaching and design jobs. But, being pulled in two directions wasn’t fun, and I realized I wasn’t going to be successful at either if I gave them both 50% of my attention. So, I had to choose.

A friend posed a question in just the right way, which made the decision obvious. If two people approached me in and one wanted a wellness coach and one wanted a designer, but I only had time to take on one client, which would I choose? In my heart, I’m a designer. I stopped health coaching and have had no regrets. Since then, I’ve grown my design business, and am so grateful that I was brave enough to listen to my heart.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The struggles, for me, come from within. I feared what other people would think about me leaving the corporate world and then leaving health coaching. But, now that I’ve taken the leap and have a full portfolio of projects I’m proud to share, and clients I’m proud to support, I’ve built my confidence and those fearful voices are quieter. I think they’re always there, in the background, but there’s a silver lining. You can use it to push yourself past your comfort zone.

Please tell us about Chantelle Davis-Gray.
I’m a web & brand designer for do-good, feel-good small businesses. I specialize in creating websites, visual branding & logos, and printed materials so that my clients feel empowered & confident to share their work with the world. I help yoga instructors, coaches of all kinds, wellness practitioners, therapists, hair stylists, nonprofits, and other clients ready to bring their vision & business to life. They’re people with big hearts trying to make an impact on their clients, and I love supporting them. It’s a ripple effect.

My passion & excitement for my clients’ dreams – combined with my ability to be both analytical and creative – sets me apart. I’m like a PB&J of made of strategy, coaching & creativity. I find so much joy in helping my clients’ visions come to life. When they feel confident about their brand, they’re able to focus on making an impact.

Helping my clients makes me proud. I get rid of their overwhelm, coach them through each part of the process and handle all of their design needs (plus some tech stuff too) so they can focus on their powerful work. What I do enables them to be able to reach more of their own clients, who then affect their friends & family… the ripple effect gets huge!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing!! Cliché, but I’ve learned from every experience!
