Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Nichols.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Caleb. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started glassblowing in 1980, at Tulane University; professionally, since 1985. It takes a long time to develop a unique vision, and my work didn’t really start to take on its present identity until after the first twelve years.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not smooth at all. Glassblowing is very expensive and it is a daunting struggle trying to pay bills and increase the quality of work.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Brimstone Glassworks – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a glass artist. I make glass sculpture that is totally unique in the world.
Fortunately, my work seems to resonate and people enjoy it.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am always striving to refine and expand my work. Currently, I am paying close attention to the optics of light in combining colors to create a visually ever shifting sculpture series.
Pricing:
- My work is $2,600 to $4,800.
- I have done installations for as much as $50,000.
