Meet Caleb Hensinger of The Human DJ in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Hensinger.

Caleb, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got started as a street performer when I got out of college and found myself looking for more work. With more time on the streets it became clear that to have a show that people could watch for hours was the goal and that providing such a show made everyone happier. It was through my search to be a compelling performer that I gained a show with the moniker THE HUMAN DJ and it is with this act that I’ve truly learned how to better perform.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, I have dealt with police shutdown, being robbed, harsh weather, need to play on the street for hours, and have lost an ability to take my old gigs due to the fact that I am so accustomed to having my own schedule, I’m actually leaving Boston in September just to become a producer mainly and to be involved with the directorial side of music.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with THE HUMAN DJ – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in private events and situations that aren’t as commercial as possible. My use of all live loops makes me an entertainment to watch the arrangement come together along with the songs performance.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking to move to LA, Atlanta, or Chicago this September.
