Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Donaghy.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always wanted to be in the beauty industry but was never sure exactly how or in what capacity. I thought about going the cosmetology route, but my father insisted I go to college and after that decide what I wanted to do with my life. It was very early in my freshman year of college after my grandfather had spent some time in the hospital, that I decided I really wanted to go into the nursing field. I decided to finish college a year early and enter an accelerated Nurse Practitioner (NP) program.
While in school, I spent most of my time as a registered nurse working on a busy surgical transplant unit. After being one of the youngest people to ever graduate from that NP program, I went on to gain experience working as an NP in gynecology and infertility, dermatology and medical aesthetics, and adolescent health. I love each of these specialties, but working in medical aesthetics allowed me to merge the worlds of medicine and beauty – which to me couldn’t be a more perfect combination for my career!
The idea of opening up my own medical aesthetics practice was always appealing to me and on my “dream” list. At the beginning of this year, I was decorating my home office and hanging up a picture that had the quote, “I don’t have DREAMS, I have GOALS”. It was then that I changed my mindset that this was a dream and instead made it a goal. In about 2 months time, BX3 Aesthetics became a reality.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Getting to where I am today was definitely not an easy road. I was told to “pick another career, the medical field is too hard”. I was treated differently by those who felt I was “too young to be doing this” and encountered people who didn’t take me seriously because of my age. It requires A LOT of hard work, and dedication is essential in order to be successful in this career. With that said, there are plenty of stressful times and long work days.
My social life was and still is always put on the back burner. At times, I struggle to balance both my career and personal life, and probably am my own biggest critic. I’ve always strived for perfection, but I learned pretty quickly that things weren’t always going to be perfect and that the bumps in the road are what really teaches us the most. I have and will continue to, put a lot of passion and dedication into this career that I dreamed of.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I own and operate BX3 Aesthetics, which is a medical aesthetics practice that offers Botox, dermal fillers, dermaplaning, chemical peels, medical grade skin care products, and eyelash extensions, with even more cosmetic services being added this fall. My advanced training as an NP and knowledge about the coexisting world of medicine and beauty allow me to enhance the beauty I see in every client and make them feel their best.
I am very attentive to detail and always work hard to give my clients the best treatment possible. I am also very honest with every one of my clients, which is something all of them appreciates the most. I make sure every one of my clients are pleased when they walk out the door, and I’m always checking in with them after their treatment to ensure they continue to be happy with their results.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always motivated with everything I did. I loved learning new things and mastering them. I definitely was strong-willed – no one could get in the way of me doing something I wanted to do (which probably drove my parents crazy, but they loved me anyway). I just always pushed myself to be better, and I never stopped!
This, along with the endless support I have received from my amazing family and friends, has brought BX3 Aesthetics to life.
