Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Ash.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I enrolled and attended Esthetics School directly out of High School. While I was still in esthetics school, my entire family was traveling to Hawaii for a family wedding. This sparked my need for the latest trend in the beauty industry… Eyelash Extensions. I absolutely fell in love with them and how they made me feel. From that day on, I knew I had to be doing this every day, making women feel as stunning as I felt. After I completed esthetics school and was a licensed esthetician, I worked at two different spas.
While working at the two spas, I also decided to go to barbering school so I could get my barbers license. Once I was done with all my schooling and possessed two licenses in the beauty industry, I just went for it! I opened Lashing Out Studio at 19 years old, and I worked 7 days a week for about 5 months. I worked four days a week in the studio and the other 3 in a local barbershop. Eventually, I became too busy with my new clients and made the decision that I had to quit working at the barbershop so I could give Lashing Out Studio 100% of my attention.
At that moment, I took the final leap into my little studio. Now 10 Months later, I am fully booked! I love and appreciate all of my amazing clients. I have also hired my first employee who is also a licensed esthetician and works side by side with me for three days every week. When I first opened the studio, it was a two room suite.
Today, my little two-room studio has grown into four rooms.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of my challenges along the way were having enough time in my work hours to allow enough scheduling for my current clients. Looking ahead and trying to predict when I was ready to expand hours and hire another person has been difficult. A personal obstacle of mine is that I never make it to the gym anymore. But like anything else you have to have priorities. With owning your own business, comes sacrifices that need to be made to ensure the success I dream of.
Please tell us about Lashing Out Studio.
At Lashing Out Studio we specialize in Eyelash Extensions. We provide Classic, Hybrid and Volume eyelash extensions to our amazing clientele. Every set of lashes that we do is completely customized to our client’s desired looks.
We pride ourselves on always considering the integrity of our client’s natural lashes before any applications are done. The health of their lashes is important therefore we educate them on how to keep them healthy while having the luxury of eyelash extensions.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Currently, the studio is located in downtown Concord directly across the State Building. We’re in a three-story building, of which we are located on the second floor. If I had the chance to start over, I would have considered finding a sore front suite on the first floor. This would allow for better advertisement.
