Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Golden.
While still at Emerson College, Brandon formed the company Project 10k Films. The goal of the company is to collaborate with storytellers, and provide them with the resources to make their vision a reality. His first film was conceived by fellow Emersonian who were eager to make their first feature film. Brandon took a chance, and provided them with funding that he had earned from previous jobs. He understood the risk, but he was willing to pay for passion. He assembled a crew composed of Emerson students and Alums. This was important to Brandon, as he wanted to give his fellow students a chance to work on their first real film. Despite the odds Brandon, and his team had created something truly special. This film was called Barren Trees. The film would go on to receive distribution both online, and theatrical. Currently Brandon is working on two projects. One is a documentary about lives of those triumphing with disabilities, and the other is a feature film. Brandon plans to collect stories from all over the world, and build up his company to change the film industry.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Working in film you can’t expect everything to run smoothly. Most issue stem from logistics pertaining to money, locations, or even talent. Getting everyone on the same page is never easy.
Project 10k Films – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Project 10K Films is a story-driven production company, which provides ambitious filmmakers with a platform to generate profit through the showcasing of their various talents. Project 10K strives to generate successful films for reasonable budgets by pairing strong screenplays with passionate crews. The company accepts worldwide submissions from filmmakers and non-filmmakers alike. I’m a producer that aids filmmakers in telling their story. I try not to be creative, but I tend to get super invested, and contribute as much as I can. I am proud of my company’s diversity, and the risks it takes to try not be cookie cutter. My company is very much an adventure that is story driven.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I don’t believe success is defined by monetary value. I believe if you’re truly passionate, and do the best you are successful. Even if you only reach one person that is a whole human being that you reached and that counts for everything.
