Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Giles.
Brandi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From the time I was a small child I was keenly aware of the health and wellness of people around me. This profession was more of a calling than a choice. I grew up and spent my time honing in on those instincts. I dialed in on my understanding of the language of emotion and health.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting my business was the easy part. Finding balance is always the place that I need to check myself. I believe when you are working in and on purpose doors open and you are supported. Finding the balance is key.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MENDWELL story. Tell us more about the business.
I started my business 18 years ago as a clinic offering integrative therapy care. Integrative care provides a host of therapies and practices designed to meet the needs of the individual patient. I began to recognize trends within our patient/client population that helped me identify significant health disparities among patient/client groups that resulted in poor outcomes. They voiced a need for support in both work and in their healthcare to provide a solution to their unmet socio-economic needs. This really is an issue of lack of policy and programming to support their needs. In our model we look at environmental, work, and home stressors, as well as accessibility to healthcare services and financial support.
Understanding these disparities fueled our growth to build programs for hospitals, healthcare facilities and corporations. We discovered that there were great-unmet needs in oncology care. The first we designed was Bridge to Wellness™, an oncology survivorship program. This offers a patient-centric approach to the continuity of care on behalf of oncology patients. It creates an enhanced experience by utilizing integrated therapies before, during and after cancer treatment. We also have developed a corporate wellness program. It offers onsite care designed to address the needs of the modern-day work force. We train leadership to create and foster healthy work environments and positive employee engagements.
Our approach is unique. Like the other programs I mentioned, it is custom-tailored to the individual company we do this by providing a wellness audit. We help create and foster an environment of wellness. For example, a talented employee may have multi-tiered events or stressors. This could be a sickness they are battling or personal financial stress. Whatever the case may be, if it is not addressed, it will this likely lead to taking that employee away from their career path. In tandem it can impact the company as a whole. After all healthy and happy employees can be the greatest assets for corporations.

I am most proud of my team. When they join me in practice, I continue to watch them grow and expand beyond a belief system or a structure. I watch them rise up and evolve. It’s amazing to witness the healing results of clients and patients. To know our practice was an integral part of their overall healing and well-being is so great. We call this, “Wellship.”
We meet people where they are at when they arrive. No one patient is the same. We create custom programs for each patient. While our program provides structure, our therapist and our team develop personalized programs for the individual. We do not generalize. One size does not fit all.
Do you feel like our city is a good place for businesses like yours? If someone was just starting out, would you recommend them starting out here?
Absolutely. I feel privileged to be in close proximity to so many amazing hospitals and facilities. There is also a tremendous amount of support for progressive health care and integrative health care not to mention cutting-edge research. Although the geography has its advantages, we need to be aware of outlying areas/communities that might not have access to the integrative healthcare (officered mainly in the city).
