Meet Bobby Burns of Highball Lounge in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Burns.

Bobby, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I joined the Highball Lounge team as a manager in the begging of 2016. I am now currently the Assistant General Manager of Highball Lounge.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth doing in life is easy. There have been many struggles along my time with Highball Lounge. However, I am a firm believer that with adversity comes growth and personal development that will benefit you in the long run.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Highball Lounge story. Tell us more about the business.
Highball Lounge is one of the most interesting food and beverage establishments that Boston has to offer. We have a very unique way of transforming and embodying many different shapes depending on the day of the week.

For example, if you join us between Tuesday and Thursday you will find a more “lounge-like” ambiance where you can relax and enjoy small plates and original craft cocktails.

However, if you join us on a Friday or Saturday, you will experience a higher energy atmosphere including a rotating roster of Boston’s most talented young and upcoming DJs.

Our bartenders, in my eyes, are by far the most talented this city as to offer. They are able to make beautiful and delicious cocktails, while putting on a performance for the crowd with fire shots and other crowd pleasing antics. To top it all off, they build genuine relationships with every patron that walks through our doors. I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such great people.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I personally do not believe in luck. One of my favorite quotes that I personally live by is as follows….

“Luck is what happens when hard work meets opportunity”
