Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Mitrano.
Ben, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The Salon was open on December 5th 2001 in Boston’s West End. I had been a stylist / colorist working in the Boston Area for 10 years(5 in Faneuil Hall and 5 in the Back Bay area) and thought it was time to take my vision of a salon and bring it to life. I grew up in a crazy fun Italian family and I have 5 sisters my mom was a hairdresser so I followed in her foot steps. The salon name is made up of my Mom Frances my dad Raymond (Ray) and my godchild (niece) Jules I thought it sounded great FrancesRay Jules…….When I opened I new that my main focus would be education and the client. Education because I wanted the best and we educated gang of stylist and felt it was important for both the client and the the staff so they would have the support from me to build my team with the confidence to perform the service. The second part the client and treating them to the best services and educate the client and also make the service they were receiving memorable. In my 18 years the education has become the main part of my career I have been an Educator for the Wella company for 10 years and currently a trainer on the Redken National Team educating all over New England about the world of Redken Color Techniques and Trends. The salon just move into the Historical North End Boston’s little Italy and love it…..The salon has also been an award winning salon for many local website (City search ,Boston Best ,Channel 7 news and several more ..The salon also known as a bridal salon catering to a Brides need. we are the editorial hair and makeup artist with Platinum Wedding Magazine ….The salon specializes in color correction and extensions.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a great run other than when we were all hit back in 2007 threw 2010 when we had such a horrible economy …but we got threw that stronger than ever.
