Thanks for sharing your story with us Antonio. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My business all began when I was tired of being a boring teenager to be honest. I just decided one day, why not take one of my passions and start a small business. Growing up, my entire family loved cars and worked on cars in some capacity. I always had a passion for cars and how complex they were. It was like a challenge for me. Just like any other small business owner, the first two years were rough. I had to build clientele, please everyone, and was working crazy hours all while getting a college degree full-time and while working another full-time job. I essentially lost my social life because I was too focused on growing this business until it couldn’t grow anymore. I am very lucky to have what I have today!
Has it been a smooth road?
Opening your own business, no matter what type of business, is going to be difficult. I ran into some obstacles that almost took me out, but they didn’t. My main objective is to make the client happy and adapt our schedules around theirs. At the beginning, my staff and I were doing about 8-10 cars a day – which is frankly too much. We began to lose quality but began gaining quantity (I would rather have quality over quantity). Finding the right balance of everything in a business is difficult, and after four years in business we have it down perfectly.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ABD Auto Detailers story. Tell us more about the business.
At ABD Auto Detailers we believe that every vehicle should be treated exactly the same way. To assure maximum satisfaction, we take our time when it comes to detailing your vehicle or motorcycle. ABD does not believe in “quick vacuums, quick washes, quick interior cleanings or quick waxing”, we believe in time and the quality of our work.
We are a full service detail shop offering varies cleaning and protection packages. Just some of the many things we specialize in include exterior waxing, paint correction, polishing, interior shampooing, full interior details, rim refinish, and vehicle customization. At ABD we are now offering vehicle customization with vinyl and custom paint shops. Remember your vehicle needs to be protected, while it looks clean.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I anticipate the detailing industry to grow rapidly in the next 5 to 10 years to be honest. Vehicle owners are realizing that it is not just about making the vehicle look clean, but it is about protecting the vehicle. Small detail shops are going to begin more into a bigger scale market because that is where in order to service more people in a timely fashion. In today’s generation, everyone wants everything super quick and we need to be able to provide quick service and still maintain of quality.
