Meet Anna Walsh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Walsh.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Anna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Over seven years ago I took the T into downtown Boston to sign up for beauty school.

That one train ride turned into hundreds of train rides as I commuted to school. That was the single best choice I have ever made for myself. After a thousand hours at school, while also working every single day after school, I knew that this would be more than just a 9-5 job. This quickly turned into my passion. I gave my all to my training, graduated and immediately started working for Earth Tones Salon, which I continue to work/create at now.

I started getting deeply involved with my Aveda education and never looked back. I had started as an assistant to the owner and all level stylists, to a junior stylist to a stylist and Aveda Ambassador. While immersing myself into education post beauty school; I quickly realized I connected with coloring. My brain processes with color theory and if most things in life were based on color theory – life for me would be easier. I’ve spent hundreds of hours in color theory and specialization classes to be able to talk about it with the love that I have for it today.

Some days I didn’t think I could do it or process all the information that was being thrown at me With a little self-discipline and determination, I became a sponge for this education. I was soaking up everything around me and still to this day, I have a thirst for more knowledge for all things color. I grew up with my single dad in Marshfield, MA right next door to Duxbury. He was my first push on learning how to take care of my own hair. He would do the same hairstyle every single day to elementary school and very young I learned that I could do my own hair and change it up. I had to learn the tricks and trade of beauty from all the women in my life.

I have so many WONDERFUL women like my own Sister, Grandma’s, Aunts, Second mothers and friends to thank for all things beautiful in my life. Surrounding myself with such strong examples of empowerment, self-love and kindness that it totally pushed me into the beauty world. Being a stylist checks all of those boxes and my hope is my clients leave my chair empowered, loving them self a bit more and felt a bit of kindness.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
NO! Frank Clark once said “if you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere” This career has given me more than creativity and an outlet. This path has given me complete independence, confidence and more love than I could ever write about.

I am so lucky to have had such a wonderful tribe of clients that keep me well rounded. With every conversation with my eclectic clientele, the ever-changing trends of the beauty world, and very busy year – I love this career more.

From who I’ve have met behind the chair, worked next to in the chair or have made me the stylist I am today. I thank them because with every bump I have had had the most brilliant people teaching and pushing me forward and pushing me to be better.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m an Aveda Stylist who specializes as a Colorist. My strengths are Balayage or Hair painting, Brunettes, foiling and Styling//Wedding Styling. I’m known for my quirky personality and color specialties. Between the product I choose to work with, the integrity I leave your hair with and my approach to your color – all keeps me trying to stay a step ahead.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to do anything differently it would be just to enjoy the process of growing, Growth can be uncomfortable and foreign and I was always trying to rush past that part BUT! Growth has made me who I am today and I am nothing but thankful for this journey that I keep chasing.
