Meet Angelica Timas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Timas.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My journey as Fashion Designer started pretty late in my life. As I look into the path I took to be where I am now, I can say it has been quite a ride. It all started as a hobby, if fact I still consider my business to be a hobby today. Following graduation from high school I wanted pursue fashion, but circumstances, and as real-life situations took lead, moving to New York, Mecca of fashion, and enroll in one of best schools for fashion was not an option.

I changed my major to Computer Science, investing in technology was the best viable option. I hold two Masters Degrees one in Computer Science and the other in Professional Studies in Informatics, all my professional life has been in the field of technology, Senior Software Developer is a position I currently hold.

I love learning, I’m like a sponge, absorb as much knowledge as I can, but halfway through pursuing a PH. D, I went through a rough time, divorce. My personal was in shambles, my professional life I felt a void, something unfulfilled. But need to keep my mind and my emotions in check so to not fall into an emotional chaos, led me to pursue my passion for fashion. This happened when I came across boxes of sketches I had been doing over the years along my professional career.

I stopped my studies and embarked in learning as much as I could about the fashion industry. I bought a sewing machine, a simple pattern and fabric, everything I know today is self-thought. In doing this I can pretty much say that this hobby, now a clothing brand, saved me from my own demons.

Please tell us about your art.
Angelica Timas is a women’s ready-to-wear label that offers its clientele limited collections of luxurious pieces. Each piece is unique and hand-crafted, all my collections are made in small quantities giving a real exclusive and individual feel.

I design primarily for the woman who shares the same traits as our muse, the versatile woman who is also a trendsetter, who is bold but yet simple, but very elegant and chic. She is not afraid to take risk with fashion, she is fun but loves unique items that sets her apart. This is my niche of clientele.

All my collection is made to measure, if the color or fabric isn’t what the client wants, or she client wants a skirt instead of pants, no sleeves or longer versions, I individualize it for each client, this allows my clients to in some way enjoy an affordable exclusivity.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I agree! It can be lonely because we get so vested into being creative and developing our brand to make it known to the community that often times we neglect to connect and network. A lot of times, friends and family don’t understand the process and time that is required to make things happen.

My advice is to find mediums where you and your art can be presented and exposed. Attend social network gatherings, meet new people, exchange services but most importantly collaborate. Boston is still growing as far as fashion, collaborations offers all parties the best way to expose everyone’s’ work to the masses.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My next presentation will be held at the Liberty Hotel, I will be kicking-off the Fashionably LATE season with Dior Pop-up beauty bar and more. Date: Thursday, September 13, 2018 | 8 pm and Admission is complimentary. To get updates on current and future events, people can visit the following:
