Meet Angela Zaremba of Luxa Jewelry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Zaremba.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Luxa formally came to life in 2007 after I lost a lifetime collection of jewelry when moving from the coastal Massachusetts town of Ipswich to San Diego, California. I took this as an opportunity to remake and recreate. For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to crystals, stones, and beads. This innate passion to design has provided a way for visions to become a reality.

Years of personal training and teaching group exercise classes with the desire to wear jewelry versatile enough for a yoga class and out to drinks with friends is what propelled Luxa to become what it is today. I am thankful for every opportunity allowing me the ability to live my dream. Named after our rescue puppy was taken from us too soon. Luxa is a reminder to love passionately, find beauty in everything and most importantly to follow your dreams.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges but also rewards has been finding balance. Growing a business with zero debt, raising a toddler, due with another baby the end of February and working a full-time job in addition to running a success ‘side business’ Luxa has helped me better understand where to focus efforts and become efficient with time management. Luxa is now the sole focus and the new year proves to be an exciting time for growth and outreach, that I was not able to pursue before.

Please tell us about Luxa Jewelry.
Luxa Jewelry started out as a hobby where I created pieces for my close friends and family. This soon grew into more and more custom requests and within two years turned into a full-fledged business. It has organically grown rather than pushing to limits we weren’t ready for.

I am most proud of the way our jewelry makes people feel. Luxa is known for unique pieces. Each stone has characteristics that differ from one to the next. The Luxa Jewelry line is ever evolving and provides customers with a sense of individuality while staying on an affordable budget.

Continuously growing the Luxa collections are an exciting time to delve into my creative outlets. I take an immense amount of pride in the jewelry display and setup. The flow of the jewelry on display welcomes customers into a burst of color and a fun world of accessories. Whether it’s our signature earring studs in little glass jars with cork lids, handmade display tables, moss-covered jewelry displays or heartfelt description tags, the customer experience is as important as the jewelry design itself. When you walk into our booth or pop up shop we want you to be immersed in the beauty and feel good about your surroundings.

We always strive to use natural stones, quality metals (sterling silver & gold fill) and sustainable materials. You will never find plastic or faux stones and items known to be harmful to your skin. This is what sets Luxa Jewelry apart from other jewelry lines. Throughout the year we donate to various charities and give back to our customers for our annual Spring/Summer Luxa Jewelry Garden Party. A time to welcome the warmer weather, spoil our guests with signature cocktails, small bites, live music and tantalizing décor.

As Luxa has grown my family and friends have been the absolute best supporters. My amazing husband has picked up every ounce of slack while the demands of wholesale and website orders, weekend shows and other aspects of the business needed attention. Without his all hands on deck approach and continuous ability to take on more of our live’s daily demands, Luxa would not have grown to where it is today. Samantha, my sister-in-law, has been integral in the success of the business helping with design advice and production and at the drop of a hat running shows.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories is visiting my grandparents at their lake house north of Montreal, Canada. My Gran was a very creative individual and helped to foster my creative abilities. We would plan elaborate parties for my birthday celebrations never missing a single detail. I loved this one on one time with her and how it helped mold what I enjoy doing today.
